What is it?
EUSR is essentially a licence to practice for the metering industry. The card is issued by Energy and Utility Skills (EU Skills) which incorporates NSAP (National Academy for Power). It is mandatory for all active meter installers to be registered with EU Skills and to carry a current EUSR card in the relevant categories.
Individual registration is conditional on the meter installer being employed by a registered meter installation company, EU Skills keep a list of registered companies.
To apply for the EUSR licence to practice there are several pre-requisites. Applicants must be employed and hold a current MOCoPA certificate and Gas Safe registration. Suitable applicants then need to undertake the NAS assessment in each category.
EU Skills issue approximately 4,000 cards per year, renewal takes place on starting a new job and after 3 years.
When employing experienced meter installers companies typically conduct a full week of induction activities to include MOCoPA, SMICOP, gas refresher training, power refresher training, company operating procedures, pipework, fault finding and unsafe situations. If the employer conducts this training in house they must ensure that the end assessments/ trade tests are conducted by a registered, independent third party.
COSAC as an EU Skills accredited provider are able to offer the full 5 day induction training as outlined above. For those companies who train in house COSAC can offer trade testing and EU Skills NAS assessments in single phase power and low pressure gas (ie the requirements for domestic meter installation). We are also able to tailor CPD courses to meet employer requirements.
All training, trade testing and NAS assessment takes place in our purpose built, state of the art Dual Fuel training centre in Runcorn. We encourage prospective clients (employers) to visit the facility and meet the Academy Manager who can tailor a programme to meet their specific needs from a complete end to end to simply conducting trade tests or the NAS Assessments and all connotations between.
A one hour drive from Runcorn would cover Preston, Liverpool, Greater Manchester, Chester, Wrexham, Stoke-on-Trent and much of North Wales.
Assessments (NAS or trade testing) inclusive of EUSR registration is 1 day at £225 +VAT per person, minimum group of 4, and maximum of 8 dependant on the assessments required.
A full week induction course inclusive of all trade testing, NAS assessments and EUSR registration is £850 +VAT per person. Group sizes as above. For repeat customers a discount may be applied at the discretion of COSAC.
Bespoke CPD courses with or without assessment – price dependant on course duration and group size. Individually negotiated with the Academy Manager.
